Between 460 B.C. and 377 B.C. Hippocrates use willow tea for his patients for ease their headache or fever. And then this knowledge was lost for several centuries. In 1758 Edmund Stone who is English scientist observed the willow leaves and bark could be used to reduce fever. In 1820s, salicin in willow plants relieved pain. In 1829 Henri Leroux who is French chemist extracted salicin form willow bark. In 1838 Raffaele Piria who is Italian chemist made salicin to salicylic acid. But this salicylic acid have problem. The problem is made a stomach upset. So in 1853 French chemist Charles Gerhardt added other ingredients. After add ingredients that reduce pain and stomach upset. In 1899 German chemist Felix Hoffmann made some of the formula and gave it to his father. His father was suffering from pain of arthritis. And the formula works so they start to sell it. In 1915 it was made in pill form.
Why scientists make salicylic acid to aspirin?
Salicylic acid have serious side effect. Salicylic acid reduce pain but it caused several stomach problems. So in 1853 Charles Gerhardt added other ingredients to reduce pain and stomach upset.

I prefer to take pill form. Other forms are hard to take. Also I need to taste more than pill. Powder forms are hard to carry and hard to take exact amount of drug. So I think Bayer changed from a powder aspirin to pill aspirin.

Drug companies shouldn’t be able to advertise their products on T.V. When drug companies advertise their products, they exaggerate the products. Usually the drugs are not able to buy without doctor’s permission. Only very few drugs are able to but without doctor’s permission. If drug companies advertise their drug, they can only the few drugs which able to buy without permission.
