Inventors and Inventions

On Dec. 2 we started new units called Inventors and Inventions. In class we watched Brain Pop about inventors who are Benjamin Franklin and Leonardo da Vinci. Benjamin Franklin was scientist, writer, diplomats and politics in United States. Leonardo da Vinci was artist, scientists, technician and thinkers. After we watched the Brain Pop we discuses about qualities of inventors. We choose lots of characteristics; risk-taker, creative, artistic, curious and multi-talented. Then we took a quiz in our planer for what I’m interest and different ways to learn. After solve the all quiz we discuss about it and Jill and Namuun drew a picture.

The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell (1847.3.3~1922.8.2) His magnetic phone received a patent in 1876. Now a day’s the magnetic phone become telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 1847.3.3. He made a bell telephone company. Usually think the first inventor of telephone is Alexander Graham Bell, but the first inventor is Antonio Meucci. He is Italian guy. When he wants get patent so he talked with Western Union Telegraph Company. When he decides with the company, he forgot his model of telephone and blueprint. After this happen, Bell get patent with almost same telephone.

After the telephone invented, people can talk with phone. Before the telephone was not invented, they need to send a letter or meet and talk face to face. These are having problems when the people live very separate or they traveled to other country. But the telephone makes more life easier. Now the telephone can call to everywhere.

evaluation

The problem of the gate is hard to open the gate because the gate is dragged on ground and the gate is not strong enough to be a gate. So In ger district gate will design stronger, not dragged on ground.
This project is design gate or fence in ger district. I choose the gate. In my Cr.A I didn’t write test clearly. Next time I need to clear test for my project. In my Cr.B which is design I did I want to make. I made the gate in design not dragged on ground, strong enough and light to easy to open the gate. I did design well. In Cr.C which is plan I planed what I will do. But I have problem with adhesive so I change the adhesive to tape. And the dead line for Cr.D moved so I change the due date. In Cr.D I made gate what I designed in my design Cr.B but the gate looks like very thick and heavy. So In next time will made more thin and looks strong but strong enough.

Test Haram

Test the gate

Questions

1. How was it looks like?

2. Is it strong enough?

3. If you use the gate why use or why not use?

4. Does it look safe?

I choose these questions because I think these questions are important when build a gate. I think the ger district gate need to be stronger than now, look safe and not dragged.

Hayoung

1. I liked the color of it, and it looked thick and strong.

2. I think it’s strong and it’ll not fall apart and sink, because some strings are holding the gate. But at the same time I am not sure if it is strong or not because it is not made with strong materials.

3. I am not sure with this one too, because I can’t tell how much it will cost.

4. It looks safe, but I don’t think it actually will be, because of the materials used.

Beka

1. It looked good and really nice and modern.

2. It looks strong but if you had used wires or rubbers instead of strings it might have been better.

3. Yes, I would use the gate since the gate is off the ground which will not sink or be broken too easily.

4. Yes, it does look safe but it might have been better if you put something under the gate and the door. Although it might not sink, people or stray animals might go under it. Overall it looks good and safe.

Hyeji

1. It looked strong and modern

2. It looks strong enough and too thick. But it will be so heavy to control it. so it is better to put casters.

3. Maybe not actually it looks so strong but it is too thick so it will not easy to control. Also it looks kind of jail’s gate. It will uncomfortable to use.

4. Yes it looked safe but it is going to be so heavy because you’re using so much maters.

Cr. D

Answer the questions.

1. What steps did you take to make your product, from beginning to end?

I took 2 days for made gate miniature. I use Styrofoam, Styrofoam board, tape as much as needed, adhesives, wood chopstick and paper clip as much as needed.

First, I cut the Styrofoam for ground.

Second, I post the wood chopstick for gate post. I post pair of chopstick because I think a side of chopstick is week to gold the gate.

Third, I made the small gate. I cut Styrofoam board two same shape, and made a small square each Styrofoam board for check who’s outside of gate. I cut Styrofoam for between two Styrofoam boards. I need to attach the Styrofoam and Styrofoam board with adhesives but I saw adhesives melt the Styrofoam when Yeajun attach gate post and Styrofoam ground. So I use tape when I made gate. And attach the Styrofoam small gate with post use tape.

Firth, I made lock for small gate with paper clips.

These are what I did in 1 day.

In 2 day

First, I made big gate. I cut Styrofoam board four same shape, and mad a small hole each for string. In my plan I planned each gates have Styrofoam between two Styrofoam boards. But cutting Styrofoam same thick size is hard so I cover inside of gate with Styrofoam boards. And attached all stuff together with tape. And throw the strings each gates.

Second, I made two rings for each string of gate with paper clip and attach it top of the post with using adhesives.

Third, attach the gate with post with tape and connect the strings to rings.

Fourth, made lock for big gate with paper clips. I made lock bigger than small gate lock.

2. What went well?

All 3 piece of gate are went well and strings and rings are also went well

3. What went wrong and how did you fix?

When big lock attach to big gate, I use adhesive a lot so part of gate melt and it looks like I push the gate with thumb. So I attached little piece of Styrofoam board.

4. If you had it to do over again, what would you do?

I will do all same but I will use other adhesive.
