A) Investigation

This project is about design the gate or fences. The gate problem is dragged on ground so it’s hard to open the gate and when gate dragged we need to left the door and open the gate. So the gate supposes to be not dragged on ground and weight of gate suppose to light and hard to not break easily. Problem of the fences is week, and coast is expensive. The fences suppose to cheap and hard. I will design gate. If I did this project very well, I can help other poor people. I can make their life more comfortable.

In sep.30, oct.7 I went ger district for help digging toilet and dig hole for post pole. In sep.30 I just walking and listening. When I walking I saw gers, fences, garbage dump, road are not flat and water station. I listen live in ger district is common way to live in Mongolia, ger district are grow very fast, because no job in country side, about 1.5million people live in UB and 800,00 people live in ger district, it’s over 50% of people whose live in UB. Water station is open 10:00-14:00, 16:00-20:00 in summer and 10:00-14:00, 15:00-19:00 in winter. Every people who live in ger district, they buy water in water station every day when they need water. The road is not good and water bottle is heavy, so get water from water station is hard. They need burn something to heat their ger. So they burn everything what they can. In oct.7 I did digging a hole for post the pole and for toilet. In the ground they are almost rocks. So it’s hard to dig it.

I saw fences are not good but every people have fences. I saw a gate, that gate is very poor it’s piece of wood and it’s so small to pass. They make small walls to protect flow the soil. And they build ger on the ground which they make soils don’t flow.

Their condition of that technology is poor. If they have enough money to build fences and gate they can make better. Gate and fences could design better.

Criterion A2

I want to design better gate. I think 4 string hold the big gate for cars and 6 big and strong hangers hold too. And 3 big strong hanger hold small gate for people. Board of gates materials is 2 iron strong boards between one thick Styrofoam. These boards need 3pices; one is for people and two big one is for cars.
